Monthly musings: December

Merry Christmas and a happy new year
I thought it should have a bit of festive theme to it, after all it's December wrap up. I thought of taking a photo of the Christmas tree so you can see all of its glory. Though you always see the Christmas tree like that. I decided to get close by and take a photo of that.

I looked up on Google for the best quotes of the end of the year, And what a year it has been on a personal note, twelve months ago I didn't know we where moving 300 miles up north. One of my relatives passed away or that I would be attending Newcastle college. On a more general note I didn't know United Kingdom would leave the EU or Donald Trump be a president for the US. I really liked Hal Borland quote. Which is the quote I am going to share to with you, Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us."

A month where all you eat is mince pies and chocolate that says "eat me". I don't like chocolate but this month every chocolate that was in sight managed to get in my hands. Espscially those dark chocolate. My Mum and Dad got worried when I had the celebrations box to myself. (NOT ALL IN ONE GO) They hid there chocolate from me. Never mind, I just got my matchsticks left which is really nice in the evening when I have a cup of coffee I stir the matchstick in my coffee it taste really nice.

Thought you might like to see Alex.

At the start of the month, I kept forgetting to take pictures of my outings. One of which was going to Starbucks with my friend Alex (don't get any ideas.) I didn't want him to be one his own so went to Starbucks for a lovely afternoon. Who else uses a fork while eating a cake? Honestly we were having a lovely at Starbucks despite our face expressions.

There's only so much TV you can watch when off college. For my first time in ages I didn't had enough work to do keep myself entertained. So in the evenings I am tired of watching TV even then I don't like sitting and doing nothing. I keep finding myself doing Sudoku's it took me a whole month to do all three. Though I did, and you have evidence.

I had a flying visit down south. Though really it shouldn't be called flying because I didn't flew down. I got the train down south. A very long train journey down but you do get to see amazing views and you get to see Angel of the North not as clearly as you could when I was smaller as those trees have decided to grow and hide the Angel. Here are some of the photo's I took. And thanks for everyone who said I could stay with them. Especially to my grandparents who hospitality was amazing!!

My grandma and granddad taking a photo of me and Seth

From the left you have Auntie Clare, Cousin Seth and Uncle Stuart

Seth's attempt of taking a photo of me. (you have to start somewhere)

This was about two or three years ago, so I thought we should a take another photo

Here you go, a more updated photo. From the left you have Lawrence, of course me and then Tia.
Time for silly poses

Whose gonna win the starring competition? Tia or Rebecca

I forgot to take photos when I met up with my friend Emily and Lawrence in Camberly to do last minute Christmas shop and a well deserved coffee. I also went to my previous church Christmas party again forgot to take any photos. I told you i'm bad at remembering taking photos.

While at the party we had to create things. Here is my attempt at making a snowflake. Maybe I should improve for 2017.

Now that's the end of my photos when I went down south. As I said it was a long journey from Blackwater to Newcastle. Very tiring. So I tried to sleep on the train. I learned from my mistake though, I put an alarm on for 4:30 my train stops at Newcastle at 4:45 it's enough time to have a chocolate bar to wake myself up. Think again. The kind gentleman next to me woke me up saying, "Sorry to wake you up, but i'm getting off at Doncaster don't know when you are getting off." Maybe I should have a sign saying, "don't wake me up." or "I'm getting off at Newcastle," But never mind. I got a cup of coffee instead. This month has really been full of drinking coffee.

Can you have too much popcorn?

My Mum and I watched beauty and the beast at the ptomaine. Yes we did! It was really good despite all the Georgie jokes. Getting rice thrown at you. But you do get sweets you just have to be a good catcher or go with someone who is a good at catching. Then went for a bite to eat.

My first ever alcoholic drink
Now I thought this was a dessert where you had a Tiramisu in a cocktail class with  amaretto and the other liquor not a cocktail.  It taste's alright, but something I won't have again. I didn't like the strong taste of it. And a lesson to myself not to order a dessert when tired you will pick something you don't want. Go home and have ice cream that way you won't pick up an alcohol drink by accident.

Quote of the month:

I can't remember the conversation but remember my response which was, young enough to know I can, old enough to know I shouldn't, stupid enough to do it anyway.

This month contained lots

  • Board games, which I did not win😞
  • Drinking far too much coffee
  • Lots of walking, (another blog post coming up)

I finally sorted all my boxes out for my bedroom. Yeppe!! No more boxes that just appear out of no where. It's amazing how much stuff we accumulated got rid of. Yet takes a l-o-n-g time to sort everything and fine a new home for everything.

Just how much books have I got.

(Why did it changed front?) Enough to start a small library. If you don't see another blog post appearing it's because I got my head in one of these books. Now the choice I have to make is which one to read first!

Monthly Musings:October

Autumn is my favourite time of year. With all the lovely colours of the trees from green to these lovely orange and redish colour with a bit of colour. If I took this photo a bit earlier I could enter this photo in the elements competition. I like Autumn not only because of the lovely colour of nature  but that it is socially acceptable to decline to meet up with people as it is to cold and it is more inviting to stay at home with a nice hot coco and read a book.

I was thinking of not blogging until I am more settled in my house. Though it means my lovely friends and family and any other readers that read this blog (which I say hello to) wouldn't know what I have been up to. Unless you ask me, What did you get up to in October? An answer might be something like this, nothing much really had friends over and family this is a rather vague answer and this month been hectic right from the 1st.

Dad posing as the angle of the north

This month been full of seeing old friends and seeing my lovely family. I had my grandparents over for a flying weekend get to see some of Newcastle gems. Unfortunately I won't be telling you them I like Newcastle far too much without the tourists. Though I did get to see the Angel of the North. I had my boyfriend though not together because of the move though we are still very close together.

This is what you get when you have a friend (Hanna) take over the laptop. Mind the quality of this image!!!!

I had a week back in South at a lovely time catching up with my close friends one of which is called Hanna some odd reason she wants a mention on this blog. Don't know why. As I put a mention on this blog as requested I better also mention Alex on here from my college course. I just can't resist to put this quote from Geoffrey Chaucer “Patience is a conquering virtue.”

Grandma and Seth deciding on what Caravan to have!
Had a lovely time with my mischievous Cousin Seth who is aged three. Had a morning out in playing soft play as the weather was to cold and wet to play in the play park. Does 18 count as child or an adult? Does that mean I am still OK to play in soft play or have a drink of coffee and watch my cousin playing? Hmmmm, I had a Latte and a cookie which we shared between us three. I also decided to play with my cousin in the soft play and had fun counting from 3-2-1 when I say the number 1 my cousin jumps off the step and into the balls pit though if you ask Seth what he did he will tell you "I jumped off and into the swimming pool." Trying to get a three year old to come out of soft play for lunch is bit of a nightmare. So I thought I will make it a game, who can see Mummy the first, it worked until the very end where Seth decided to come down so I made a deal with him, down we go we have to go upstairs and see Mummy then go. Finally it worked without tears.

Auntie Clare and Tired Seth
I had a lovely evening with my Auntie Clare, went to her house and helped my Auntie Clare and Uncle Stuart to get little, tired Seth to bed. Then Auntie Clare and I went to Farnborough to go to the pictures. I don't normally like Thrillers and never watched one I don't get enjoyment when reading so never watched one until this month when I watch Inferno which is about Robert following a trail of clues tied to Dante, the great medieval poet. When Langdon waked up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna a doctor he hopes will recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to stop a madman from unleashing a virus that could wipe out half the world's population.

I had a good morning/afternoon with my friend Hanna which we had a shopping trip to Baskingstoke no books in hand. It had to happen someday.  Though I managed to get two designer clothing without even trying one jumper and one top from charity shops. Why spend a fortune when you might only wear once? When you can get something from charity shop that is designer for less and you doing your bit for charity.

Oh I do like to be by the sea side

My Grandma has a sister who lives in Bournemouth (where the picture above is taken). Which was a lovely afternoon. Granddad and I went out for a walk and left Grandma and her sister talk. When you are by the sea side there is two rules you have to abide to do 1) have fish n chips 2) have ice cream. You have to abide at least one of them. As we already had lunch we abide to number two. I shared my ice cream with Granddad and there is no such thing as too cold to have ice cream.

I had a lovely time with my friends which you can tell as I forget to take a picture. It was weird to pass the house that I lived in for over 10 years that is no longer my home. Though home is where the heart is. I met up with Tia and Lawrence and had a lovely hot coco (sorry for the mess I made Tia) then went out for lunch in local pub that I used to live then had a walk up to Crowthrone for a deserved coffee then it was time to go back to my grandparents.

Quote of the month

Auntie Clare: "Seth where did we go shopping, Seth?
Seth: "Tiddles" (Meaning Lidl)

What I am thankful for this month

  • Having lovely friends
  • Been to the Dentist with clean dental health
  • Having a garden though the weather is not right to be siting outside
BOO! Ha, gotcha. I can't believe it's the end of October. I just can't. I'm kind of sad as October is one of my favorite months. I must say though, i'm really looking forward to November, because then it is practically December which means CHRISTMAS, it's the best! Also, is it socially acceptable to start singing Christmas songs yet? PLEASE SAY IT IS!!!!!

Monthly musings: July

I won't start this blog with an apology otherwise I would sound like an old record player or a very old YouTube video that gets played and played until you know what is going to happen before it does or you know the lyrics inside and out.

As I am writing this, I have boxes surrounding me. I have finally moved to Newcastle the town called Ryton. So let's talk about July. Shall we?

So July was here and there and shake it about quite literally. So the first week in July Dad and I went up to Newcastle looked at the rented houses well more like my Dad. I was at Newcastle college doing summer college and having fun being creative with a sharpie taking portrait and compiling the doodles on the portrait. Meeting lovely people though don't ask me to speak Geordie as that I haven't got my head around. Though ask me to take photos anytime. Dad and I had fun at Newcastle though something was missing and that was my Mum unfortunately she had to work. Annoyingly!!!!!!!!!!!

I had less than a half a night had home. Then I got an early flight from Gatwick to Berlin my first flight on my own well in a way is not really. I have always flown on my own since the age of seven by the sky flyers you always have a person that takes you through the security and on the plan the best thing about it is you can have many biscuits and cookies and no parents telling you "Come on that is enough." In fact no parents had all. I got to see lots of celebrities by flying on my own. I must say I was about upset when my Dad told me I will be flying from Gatwick to Berlin with Easy Jet as I am so used to flying with British Airways.

I staying over with my Grandparents who was cat siting for my Uncle Chris as he was working in the states in a town called Rangsdorf which is the eastern part of Germany. Rangsdorf will capture your imagination and it's not all because of its beauty and exciting culture. There's a valiant piece of history attached to this little town dating back ti World War II. You see, it's from the local airfield here that Claus Schenk Graf Von Stauffenberg set off in his bid to assassinate Hitler in what Tom Cruise has now made famous as Operation Valkyrie. Of course, as we all now know he was short dead for his pain. How history would have been changed if he had not failed in this valiant bid.

Day in Berlin

I'm not going to tell you the ins and outs and my adventure in Berlin otherwise I would be here for days trying to rack up my brain and remember. But here are the highlights. So enjoy the ride!

I had a day to Berlin. The firth thing you should do when you get to Berlin? Take a deep breath and understand this: you will not see it all in a day. Berlin is huge, as in nine times the physical size of Paris. There is no downtown area per se, but several, and no two neighborhoods have the same look and feel. So what to do? Step back, understand, and come along for the ride. Even more reason to come back to Berlin.

Please excuse the photos to be a bit different quality I was on a bus doing most of these photos.

Brandenburg Gate
The Brandenburg Gate is one of the most well-known landmarks in Germany, but did you know that it once stood without its Quadriga statue at the stop? Stolen by Napoleon in 1806, the famous chariot by four houses was kept in Paris until was returned to Berlin upon his defeat in 1814. An impressive theft for sure, but if the Quadriga had been of gold, it would have been one of the biggest thefts of all time.

Top of the Brandenburg gate

Reichstag

First let's clear up a few thing. The German word Reichstag means "imperial parliament" (das Reich, empire + der Tag, diet.) The term Reichstag acutally refers to the historic series of governing bodies in the German realm, and the former Prussian/German legislative body that was created in 1867 (for the North German Confederation). However, the term is often used as shorthand for the building in which the Reichstag met for many years.

Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe

Alxenderplatz also known as the Eiffel tower in Berlin!!

The central square in the heart of Berlin was brought to life in the early 19th Century. The former Trade Square Ochesenplatz was renamed by the Russian Tsar Alexander the first (1777-1825). Over the years, the square had several different purposes. First, for a quite a long time, the square was known as a cattle-market where people came together to do business. Later, during the Second World War, Alexanderplatz was used for its underground bunkers and unfortunately this also meant that it was one of the main targets for the enemies of Adolf Hitler.

Berlin Wall
Can you imagine waking up in one morning to find that soldiers were building a wall across your town? Can you imagine what it would be like to not to be able to go your work or college in your neighborhood because there was giant wall in the way? That was what happened to some people in Germany in August 1961, when East Germany started raising the Berlin wall to Separate itself from West Germany.

Checkpoint Charlie

A visit to checkpoint Charlie is a bit like time travel. There are only few sights in Berlin that are still in the original shape they were during the Berlin Wall Era-only few details left of Cold War Berlin. Checkpoint Charlie is kind of one of them. Checkpoint Charlie was one of the series of different Checkpoints between East and West, some of them named after the "Army Alphabet." I guess it's worth mentioning that the West Allies did not really check on the regular people-only military personal and officials had to show their papers-their credentials.

A sunny day in Potsdam

Grandparents and I wanted to change the scenery, we decided to make a day-trip to the neighbouring city of Potsdam. Although still quite busy in its own right (we even spent 30 minutes finding a park that has a space for the car), Potsdam has long been touted as a favorite place of residence for the Prussian and German royal family until 1918 and now attracts visitors with its charming dutch influenced city center, beautiful architecture, and extensive Sanssouci park and palaces.

After exploring Potsdam by car trying to find a parking. We made our way to the main reason that most people head to Potsdam-Sanssocuci park. We wandered through the grounds build by Frederick the Great before finding our way to the highlight of the park, the Sanssouci Palace (the park is actually home to two palaces, the Sanssocui palace and the "new" palace. Although relatively small for a "palace", the Rococo masterpiece was built in the likeness of Versailles, complete with a sculpture garden, fountains, and a beautiful terraced vineyard.

Sanssouci palace

After admiring the architecture and snapping many photogrpahs, we stumbled onto a small cafe and had a lovely cup of coffee and cheese cake and more cake.

So that is the end of my Berlin trip. Well for this blog post. As I said I'm only writing the highlights on this blog. My intention is to upload all my photos on a blog post.

Quotes

Dad: Why is Dishwasher not done Rebecca?
Me: Well, I didn't know where to put the clean dishes  as you packed everything up. I didn't want to forget these few items. Do you?
Dad: Haha

It;s a shame, I can't use that excuse again.

Now if you excuse me, I better start unpacking my boxes. Oh wait, I only got one more box left ah it can wait. Surely!

Monthly musings: May

God makes a way
When there seems to be no way,
He works in ways we cannot see,
He will make a way for me.
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to his side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way.

Hi! Did you miss me? Sorry it's been a while since I posted on here. Been busy doing house work on top of getting swamped with assignments and exams. Well O.K. I can count the number of exams on one hand so I really shouldn't be moaning. Right? But who likes exams especially the IGCSE English and GCSE Maths. I know one of my friend got 12 exams. Well least we got the summer holidays on the horizon.

This month has been packed right from the beginning of May where my parents went house searching in Newcastle while I stayed at home doing assignments. Well I did had a night off and watch lots of videos. Can't be bad, can it?

My grandma

I also had a day out with my grandparents to hayling island. Which I'm so grateful. I had an excuse to get away from my college work for a day and spend time in the outdoors. Just mind the wind otherwise it would knock you off your two feet. While Grandma and I walked on the seafront Grandad had a bit of 'me time'. I am officially banned from throwing stones in the water especially next to my Grandma as we went to Hastings for holiday and I throw a stone and it flew right next to Grandma. Since I was by the sea side, I had another excuse to use my photography skills and tried to make a time lapse. Still need practice and some equipment maybe a tri-pod.

Fingers cross, it works

It's summer time!!

Then half way in May, Dad and I was suppose to cycle 30 miles. Sunday before the actual event I had a glitch, don't worry, I'm OK now. But I was really enjoying my cycle ride need to blow my nose, annoying hay fever and then something happen out of the blue. Though luckily I had my phone and was alight in terms of telling Dad how to use my phone. Oh and for dinner it was barbeque with my family before my grandparents are off to Germany for 8 weeks. So it was a good evening and I totally forget what happened earlier that day. Mum was a photographer that evening. I can get used to Mum taking photos of me just don't approve of Mum taking photos while I'm sleeping. Maybe I should have one eye open and the other eye close?

Since I was suppose to be cycling with Dad for British heart foundation. We all thought well we could either travel up there early in the morning and then come back home all on Sunday? Or we could make a weekend break away? So what did we do? Of course we had a weekend away. It was good fun, a lot of reading and admiring the lovely view we had at the cottage. Two evenings in a row we went out for dinner. Friday we drove up, and stopped at Cotswold shopping centre to get me some walking shoes or trainers since I keep walking mine out. Well least's you know I walk a lot! After we unpacked we went down to town for a rewarding drink and look for something tasty for dinner. Saturday we did some shopping really didn't do much because my Dad needs his energy for Sunday. Then Sunday came round quickly, it was only like yesterday that it was January where Dad and I trained. Gosh that was cold and gloves was needed and coats and jumpers now it is shorts and t-shirts.

The event that my Dad participated in went really well. Dad truly enjoyed it. It could just be a new chapter of his bike journey. On the other hand,  I was really annoyed at myself for not getting out of bed earlier enough and hop on my bike and starting training for this 30 mile challenge. But then if I had my bike I would find it really hard as there is about two miles of incline. I can't even do the Crowthorne hill never mind two miles of it. So it was good for me not taking part. Though I must say, this is the start of my new bike chapter as I am more determined to complete my bike challenge. I even suggested it to my friend. Hoping to do a free London ride even though I have no idea how many miles I would be doing never mind how to get there or back or even stay. Though for the time being, you can admire my Dad in his achievement. Way to go Dad!

Then Monday came around and time to get home and get stuck in with college work. I actually managed to get a break from college work and it was a deserving break.

There was a brief period in mid May where I felt like I knew what I was doing and I had a goal to work towards. Needless to say, it didn't last long. Though I have decided to change course and do photography. Don't worry I haven't wasted this year doing level three health and social care because I gained an extra 1.5 A level, well equivalent. You could even admire more fantastic photos then you see now and again.

Then during the week we do some work in the house or wherever there is clutter. One Tuesday evening, Dad and I decluttered the garage before you couldn't walk from the back to the front of the garage without tripping over or step over. I'm glad to say you can now walk the full length without stepping over things and tripping over. What a result? Cleaning is our regular winding down activity it used to be watching TV. Some nights it is though.

What a view!!

It's been a month where I reflect on my Christian life. I noticed I read the bible but haven't followed any routine just been reading bits of the bible which sounds interesting. I tell you something that I learned while I read Numbers 20:1-13. I had such a mountain to climb over the past two months about changing course. Is it really a good decision? Am I making a good decision to move all the way up to Newcastle? What happens if it's not? Is they are net that can catch me if something goes wrong? So when reading this verse, it didn't make any sense. Until I really mediate on it. What it is really saying, Rebekah? Well my answer, God won't ever give you something that you are not ready for. If you aren't he will give you the skills to be able the climb over the mountain whether it's drinking water or just motivation by your side. I want to get more if an insight in the bible. Look onto Google for a nice plan to read the bible in a year. One problem they all start on 1st January. Hmmm this is not going to work. Dig deeper. Found something so useful, it just says Day 1 and the following readings. That will work and I started on 12th May, So hopefully I can carry it on for a whole year.

....because humans in the outside world do not need to see me attempting downward-facing dog. Nope.

I got into yoga a couple of years ago when I was feeling a bit BLEH (a word that is not yet in the dictionary but one day will be.)

Last week in week in May, I had mainly sat down and starting at a screen (due to all revision and assignments that I got loaded with) I sort of subconsciously visited my old favourite yoga workout in an attempt to stretch out my poor back. I guess the warning that should come here is that if you do any sort of fitness at home, you could be doing it very wrong and doing more harm than good. Please be careful and research proper 'form' before you become a yoga queen or king.

Happy birthday to me! I turned eighteen this month, so I guess I'm officially an adult? Whatever that even means. Anyhow I recently had a realisation which I thought was important to share. A few days ago, I was reflecting on my life so far. Something that bothered me was the fact that I would've accomplished more than I have before I turned 18. I constantly hear people my age who have already done so much with their lives, making mine like a joke compared to theirs. However I soon snapped out of it and told myself there's absolutely no point comparing my life to other people's.

No, I may not have accomplished very much over the 18 years of my life. But heck, I've been though a hell of a lot, especially over the past few years. I went through some pretty tough times, but eventually managed to fight through them and come out stronger than ever. That in itself is a great accomplishment in my opinion, and I don't give myself enough credit for the thing for the things that I have been through. In fact I'm actually thankful for having gone through them, because without the hard time, I wouldn't have learnt to be thankful for the good days.

This has been year of growth for me, filled with many valuable lessons, as well as hard times that I'm proud to have overcome. Here's to another year of learning, happiness, and positivity.

When a friend first told me about unplugging from technology, I didn’t really pay much attention. I thought that the idea of staying offline for a day would only faze a handful of computer geeks and kids who tremble at the idea of life with without a mobile phone and tablet.

Unplug to recharge.
Sharpen the saw.

Whatever you call it, we all need to put down the technology and look up and around us every so often. The world will not end if you leave your phone on your desk and go for a 20 minute walk in the sun or meet a friend for lunch. Yes, you may have more texts, emails and voicemails when you return, but think of how much better you'll be able to manage those when your mind is clear and recharged! Did you know that, on average, we humans require 10 "touches" (like a hug or handshake) every day in order to feel interpersonally content? Your keyboard doesn't count :)

Quotes

One of my friends asked me these questions in ways to keep in contact when they are off to UNI and when I'm off to Newcastle. It made other friends surroundings us laugh. Maybe not her at the time but now she laughs it off.

Friend: How about Twitter?
Me: No!

Chocolate and what cake

That must chocolate and avocado cake.

I remember watching the movie Matilda as a child and being both jealous of and disgusted by the little boy was forced to eat chocolate cake as punishment for a petty crime he didn't commit. The glory was raised up on a pedestal-so thick, decadent and fudgy. I wanted to be right there along with him, fork in hand, shovelling in bite after bite as the crowd cheered "Bruce, Bruce, Bruce!" (and, Rebekah, Rebekah, Rebekah). But we don't get everything we want as a child, just like I never got that fancy notebook Penny always carried around in Inspector Gadget I had rough childhood, clearly.

But when you grow up you realize many things, like children really don't get punished in real life with chocolate cake, it will feel better when it stops hurting (so said my Grandfather), and eating mass amounts of cake will get you nowhere good (so says my mother). But the funny thing is, despite having the realization, the craving chocolate cake (and lots of it) doesn't go away. It's simply accompanied by a guilt fairy that flutters around your head saying "Fatty McFatterson Two Face" as you shovel in colossal bites.

My solution? Make the cake healthy with things like banana, avocado, honey and oat flour. Then you can flick the fairy away and say "Nuh Uh, stupid face. It health food." Problem rectified. Ugh, I hate bossy fairies.

My Mum had an avocado that needs to be used up. I would like to do baking since every holiday my tradition is to bake something. I had a dilemma either make avocado mouse. Or make a chocolate cake. Maybe one day make avocado mouse today the chocolate cake one won. But if you want to make chocolate mouse. Decisions, decisions.

I never have any recipes to follow as such just look up random recipes and make sense of them and getting creative in the kitchen. Is baking cooking or more science? I think it is more science and improvisation.

Recipe time

Ingredients

  1. 1 large ripe avocado (150g)
  2. 300g muscovado sugar
  3. 350g self-raising flour
  4. 50g coco powder
  5. 150g melted chocolate (though I get extra as I like eating chocolate when the rest is melting)
  6. 400ml of milk
  7. 150ml sunflower oil
Method

  • Head over to 180C. Grease your baking tins and if do have baking parchment then draw around the cake tin and cut it and put it in the tin otherwise you would have to wash it up which takes a lot of effort. Though a great excuse to not do your assignment. Put the avocado and the sugar in a food processor and whizz until smooth. Add the rest of the cake ingredients a bowl put the avocado mixture in the bowl with the melted chocolate and use the electric hand mixer to mix the batter with. Until it is to a velvety, liquid batter. Divide the mixture between the tins and bake for 20 minutes or until well risen and a skewer inserted into the middle of the cakes comes out clean. Then you can like the bowl, no one is watching nor judging.
  • Cool in the tins for 5 minutes then turn the cakes onto a rack to cool completely.
  • I didn't meant to make a sandwich cake. I went to the corner shop to see if they still sell chocolate fudge so I could put that into the middle. And no they didn't, left my phone out home. OH NO! So I improvised and picked up double cream and chocolate. No! I am not crazy but I can whisk the double cream and melt the chocolate and they you go. If you get extra cream you could put it in coffee. So yummy.
  • I haven't ate the cake otherwise my parents won't get to see my master piece. Furthermore if it so tasty, I might eat the whole lot and Dad won't get any. So for now you can admire the pictures. And I write what I think about the cake in the comment section, also my Dad thoughts about it. since he wasn't keen on the Cucumber cake. Hopefully he would like this one if not then a whole cake to myself which I won't be complaining about.

Ah you probably want to know the oven story. Well Mum was making a surprise chocolate cake for my Dad the best idea my Mum had was to put it in the oven. The same day she used the oven preheated it without checking. You can guess what probably happened? Yes I am afraid my Dad smelled something burning. Mum forget to check to see what is in the oven. This was before I was born and we don't let me Mum forget. Every time you use the oven you have to check even you, you never know what might be lurking in the oven.
