Escape

Trees, trees, trees
Branches, sticks, leaves
Whipping, gashing, slashing at my arms
I can't get away no matter how fast I run

Tripping, falling, crawling on the floor
Ragged cuts, tattered clothes, jagged breathing as I start to slow
My eyes are heavy, my vision blurred
Distant images start to stir

He's right behind me, he's catching up
I have to keep moving, but my legs have had enough
Getting dizzy, about to pass out, a distant figure starts to stand out
A distant scream, a whispered plea, I can't believe it came from me

Pulse is racing, a feeling of hands, a gentle hush as I'm helped to stand
It's him, he's caught me, please strength don't leave me yet
Let me be anything but his sullied pet
I have to leave, I have to get away, I fall to my knees and let my head sway

Stopping, he stares at me and gives a mirrored laugh
Then he reaches for me as I start to move back
I'm to slow, he's to fast, I can't get away, he's taking me back
I can't let this happen, I must react

Head's too fuzzy, I'm getting too weak
I'm stumbling over my own feet
One chance, a pull, a twist, a pop and a moan
I'm not the one with a broken bone

I'm still running, he's still coming
My strength's about to give out
Dead end, cliffs end, water and rocks below
Tell me, if you had a choice which way would you go?

Anxiety got a big grasp of me, I was trying to walk away from it more like jogging. I decided to write a poem about what I am thinking and feeling. I just have to move forward, somehow-muster some strength.

Running is my rescue

Running is a simple! All you need is running shoes and you are off to go, not only that you can do it anywhere. You don't need good countryside to run in and admire the landscape. Nope you can just admire the sound off you footsteps. Or even seeing traffic and you are passing each car by your own footsteps. (Something that doesn't happen up here a lot)

In fact, most of my creative ideas and random thoughts (including this blog post) have come to be while on a run. I like to give my mind the freedom to wander. Thoughts come and go, and for whatever reason, my mind seems to be able to reach and explore areas that i'm not capable of finding when not running.

Though not all runs turn out great, some of them I am mainly walking. But today, I was running and really full of energy even took pictures. As I just got back from running, this is going to be a quick post, as I'm going to have a bath and read my book maybe even use candles.

My feet stick the black rubber
Its like some kind of magnetic tape
Day after day, it pulls me back
For not only does my body demand it,
but my heart yearns for it
Its the cure to all pain and the rescue from all fear
It there when I need it, even if I choose not to feed it
When I want it, I get it, but never abuse it
It never talks back nor says I'm stupid
Its always there for every stride and every cry
Its my track and I know I'll never lose it

Just a short  poem about my love for running. How it's the most dependable thing I've got. Friends may come and go, but running will always be a part of me.

Photos time, (not all of these photos was taken this evening, but they have been taken while running)

Oh pretty sky,

Daffodils

Not to sure, what these flowers are, though they look lovely

I just missed the sunset, but a lovely MR sunshine just about to do his disappearing act

This sort of represents the running wall, oh and the shadow is me

my delicious snack, cup of coffee and peanut crackers and chocolate spread.

By eating those tasty crackers, got me to do to this!!!!!!!!!!

Now i'm off in my lovely bath, reading "Reading in bed" Yes that is the title so don't worry you haven't read wrong.

Last Writing Wednesday poem

I am dearly sorry this is a late Wednesday poem. This week has just whizzed by without stopping. I have just noticed today is Sunday. When my folks said this morning 'Are you ready for college tomorrow?' The answer to that question is a right NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where has this holly-day gone? One moment I was waiting for the time to tick by at 2:30 so I can go home on Thursday 17th December . Gosh that went to s-l-o-w-l-y.

Anyhow this is the poem you have waited so long for.

This is really
Short poem today,

It doesn’t rhyme
Because I do not have time
To think of words,

Referring back to the title this poem makes no sense. Well I really do not have time to make poems every Wednesday when I am at college and my creativity is not that great when I am rushing to get my assignments done. I am now not going to do poems every Wednesday. Instead I will show you my poems every so often. I am not telling you a certain day to upload them on this blog. You just have to wait and see.

I cannot write a poem

I have to write a poem
It Wednesday, that is why.
Fine, I will write a poem,
But it will have no rhyming unless
It has dumb rhyming words like ‘cow’

Fine I will write about a cow
But that’s so commonplace
I think it will have to be moo awesome than that
It’s got to be a cow in a Millennium Falcon

My cow will need a  lightstaber
To hurtle the galaxy so far away
He would also need to see R4 red
  And R2 blue
  If I was the force,
Then I’d be with you

   Different, we are
 A nerd, I am
Yoda he is!

I hope you like my tale
“Yoda the cow”
Yes, that’s the poem I will write
As soon as I learn how,

The poem says is all really. I am big star wars fan and I watched the Star wars Awakens yesterday with my Grandma, I will not spoil it in case you wanted to see it. Here is a Christmas poem that I have not because I cannot actually write a poem today.

Two letters to Santa

I wrote a letter to Santa
To make sure he would know
It's only two weeks until Christmas,
And we still don't have any snow.

Just didn't want his reindeer
To have to work too hard.
I was afraid they might get stuck
In the mud outside in our yard.

I mailed my letter on Monday,
Only two days ago.
As I dropped it in the mailbox,
It slowly started to snow.

It's been snowing ever since,
More as each day goes by.
I'm getting kind of worried now
That Santa will think I lied.

I'll write another letter,
And mail it off today.
Tell Santa not to worry,
There'll be lots of snow for his sleigh

I read this poem at Family Friend Poems and really wanted to share it with you. If you fancy reading other poems such as this one then check the website out.

What Christmas Is Really About!

Heavenly choir

Frantic shoppers crowd the stores,
Buying up bargains by the score.
Do they know the meaning of Christmas?
It's difficult to tell for sure.

Christmas isn't a race to see
How many gifts that you can buy.
It's not about cooking a ham,
Or about baking pumpkin pie.

It isn't about hanging lights,
Or visiting Santa at the mall.
No it really isn't about
Any of those things at all.

It's about the birth of Jesus,
And his true divinity.
It's about the birth of the Savior,
Who came to redeem humanity.

So stop worrying about those sales,
And getting caught up in distractions
Let's focus on what's important,
And be responsible for our actions.

Jesus is the reason for the
season we hold so dear.
So let's keep the focus on God
As we celebrate Christmas this year.

Although I wrote plenty of poems that celebrate the many traditions that surround this holiday season.  Christian poems focus on the true meaning of Christmas. You got to agree! Take a few moments away from the hustle and bustle of the season to share some of these poems with the people you love. It doesn't have to be a religious one, look at this one but it would be great if you  can share Christ this Christmas.

Scrooge And Grinch

Scrooge and Grinch
Don’t believe in Christmas
When the carolers come along
They start to swear and cuss

Ebeneezer Scrooge is a skinflint
A mean and grasping old miser
Who buys from the pound shop
And sells them at a fiver
Little more than a grouch

      Is the Christmas stealing Grinch
Who to miserable to be happy
He steals your Christmas by the inch
The tale is told of redemption

      After the ghostly haunting stunt
The Grinch whole-hearted and loving
Says merry Christmas with a grunt
Scrooge and Grinch never changed
They were just putting on a front

I got a bit a carried away today with my creative thinking and writing poems. I have come up with a great poem that you can put in your Christmas cards to share Christ. That is if you like me, that do Christmas cards last minute. What was that? You must misheard me. Me do Christmas last minute, now you must be joking. Oh and here the third poem today. That is what I said! Right?!?!?

Christmas Candle

Candle light of beauty
Adorning church and alter
None excluded from Christ’s love
Darkness brightly conquered
Light of Christ illuminating
Everlasting light of life

This poem is a different poem that I tend to write, this poem is called a Christmas acrostic - and acrostic poem is one in which the initial letters of each line spell out the word or words of significance to the poem - with a simple but powerful message.

Right I better go and do Christmas cards!! Is that what you was telling me? I got you know!!

Christmas poem

Christmas lights brighten the streets,
Loved up couples drink mulled wine,
I've not got a boyfriend.
Until December I didn't mind.

I've no one to share mince pies with,
No one to buy me a scarf,
No one to drink the Whiskey,
I left for Santa on the hearth.

The songs, the adverts, the films,
Tell me to sit this Christmas out,
You can't be happy on your own,
And that's what it's all about.

Well I don't think that's fair,
I looked the numbers up online,
Single people out weigh the couples,
At this moment in time.

So I won't spend a fortune,
On presents for a man,
Who if I'm really honest,
I'd hate by the end of Jan.

I am single this Christmas. Now before you all think about no I am not sad and no I will not be on my own as I got my parents. Somehow the media portrays Christmas to be celebrated with your boyfriends or even girlfriends. In my thinking it should be reflected back onto Jesus himself and of course with family. Who wants to share mince pies anyways? Not me!! Before you think it about or even say it. NO I DO NOT DRINK!!!!!!! It just when you ask people what they like to drink on Christmas day their answer is Whiskey plus it was to add humour.

With this poem, I thought I can get away with the my slight wobbles in the rhythm here and there because of it's wit and inventiveness.

It's hard to imagine, but the greatest news the world will ever hear is hidden within one scale. This short Christmas video is a heart-warming story of a mother who teaches her son the basics of playing piano. However he finds that learning to play is quite boring until she teaches him an important lesson about history. This touching Christmas video is perfect for sharing through the holiday season.

The very first Christmas lights and who is your Grinch?

Red and green, all colors bright
Are a sure sign of Christmas now
It seems we can’t put up enough
To celebrate the season.

Are decorated to the hilt.
We think about the Christmas lights,
At the end of Thanksgiving day.
To the first of all Christmas lights.

God lit up a star, most lovely of all.
To announce our Savior’s birth.
As it shone on the Shepherds there.
To light the way to Baby Jesus,

That star over Bethlehem.
In the light of all lights to shine.
Then a Heavenly chorus of Angels,
While they worshiped the Lord.

The night that Jesus was born.
No decorations we have today could equal
Our windows, doors, and front yards
But, lets look back over two thousand years

Oh ! I wish I could have seen it,
Just to hear and see an Angel,
That was the glorious first Christmas,
That very first Christmas light.

                          Who is your Grinch?

Who is the Grinch trying to steal your Christmas
Who is the Scrooge making you grimace?
Is it the Brother Neal who chooses to ignore?
Is it Uncle Bill who is a bore?
Is it Aunt Sally who insists on ham
Or is it the in-laws who don’t believe in the Lamb

I have a recipe to slay the Grinch
I know how to make him wince
You can do it, yes you can
As long as you follow the plan:

Instead of boxing gloves,
1 Cup of love.
Another Cup of forgiveness
Instead of your fist.
You won’t need a “piece”
If you have 1 Cup of peace
And finally 1 Cup of joy
For any who tend to annoy.
Covering all should be a large helping of grace
Oh, and try to do it with a straight face.

“Impossible” you say!  "I cannot do it."
“You do not know Mr. Schmitt”
He is a beast, a bear, a nincompoop
And Mrs Schmitt’s eyes droop.

But stop! Do not give up
It may not be as easy as a layup,
But every Grinch will feel out of place
When it sees love, joy, peace, and grace.

Where to find such ingredients, you ask?
How to conquer this incredible task?
Love, joy, peace, and grace are only found
In the One about whom Angels sing with a joyful sound

Allow Him to fill you with what you need
To keep you from making the Grinch bleed.
No, indeed, Grinchs are never beyond
The gift of grace, instead of a bail bond

Something special

Thanksgiving Feasting

When the Halloween pumpkins are gone,
And the leaves have all fallen to ground,
When the air has turned windy and cold,
Then Thanksgiving will soon be around.

Thoughts of loved ones all feasting together,
Pleasant pictures from past times appear
To dwell in each heart and each mind-
Then Thanksgiving is finally here!

The kitchen has scrumptious aromas,
The dining room looks oh, so fine,
Decorations with pilgrims and turkeys,
And now we are ready to dine!

First the napkins are placed on our laps;
Now the prayer for the meal to be blessed,
Then we stuff the good food in our tummies,
And we hope for it all to digest!

Thanksgiving tomorrow it is mainly celebrated Americans and they think Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to celebrate getting out of school for a long weekend, and eating a great dinner. Or maybe they think it is start of the Christmas holiday season.

Here is another poem  that I made some time this morning when I woke up feeling so sad. But it was such an inspirational poem, it might help you folks.

Be Proud Of Who You Are

I come with no wrapping or pretty pink bows.
I am who I am from my head to my toes.
I tend to get loud when speaking my mind.
Even a little crazy some of the time.
I'm not a size 5 and don't care to be.
You can be you and I can be me.
I try to stay strong when pain knocks me down.
And the times that I cry is when no one's around.
To error is human or so that's what they say.
Well tell me who's perfect any damn way.

Advent writing

Old-fashioned, Spiritual Christmas?

"What has happened to the old-fashioned, spiritual Christmas?
The cause is our disregard of Advent.
The church set aside this four-week pre-Christmas season as a time of spiritual preparation for Christ’s coming.
It is a time of quiet anticipation.
If Christ is going to come again into our hearts, there must be repentance.
Without repentance, our hearts will be so full of worldly things that there will be ‘no room in the inn’ for Christ to be born again.…We have the joy not of celebration.
Which is the joy of Christmas, but the joy of anticipation."

I'm one of these people, who if they don't write or tell people what I'm doing. The chances are that I not going to be determined to do. I am a people pleaser so if I tell someone I will do something and for some reason I don't do it. I feel ever so guilty.

So here is me saying it to you.

At the risk of of sounding like a preacher. Which I hope I don't. I decided to write a bit of advent writing. Though I am not too go to deep in thought and really explore Christmas both religion and other Christmasy stuff. If that's not your cup of tea, then come back in 25 days.

I also liked reading my church devotions that my Pastor does, if you wanted to read what he done last year, then check it out . Pete (Pastor) has also done one in 2012 so check that one out too. He always does a wonderful job and now I would like to do something a bit like that. However it is very different. I also wanted to explore the Christmas story. You know the Christian story? Then there is the Charles Dickens the Christmas Carol the Scrooge. Then there is the Grinch that stole Christmas. Oh I hear you all saying you missed something Rebekah! Yes, I have of course missed Father Christmas. Well you have to wait for this mystery to be resolved.

I never found anytime of my years on earth about thinking about Christmas it just happens then goes So I thought while I got no assignments or homework for now. I might else well have a go, it's only half a month so it cannot be to bad. Advent starts on Sunday, got a bit of time before than to start writing behind the scenes. Just watch this space!

What was the point of Writing Wednesday?

Oh I remember, it was thing for me to write in the evenings when I can't sleep at night during the holidays and because I had too much fun writing poetry I kept it going. Right! But I somehow never really write something because I can't sleep it was all random like the poem about life is roll coaster.

Well today, I decided to use a poem that I wrote in my poetry book about me not sleeping.

I can't sleep

I Can't sleep
I find myself yawning again and again,
But I can't sleep, which is a real pain.
I lie on my left side, then on my right,

But, for me, there is no sleep in sight.

Next, I turn and lie flat on my back,
But, of any sleep, there is still a lack.
I lie there, looking up at the ceiling:
Pretty drained, is how I am feeling.

I wish my system would just slow down,
But, through my mind, thoughts race round.
Feeling restless, I begin to huff and puff:
I know that, in the morning, I'll feel rough.

As a poet, my mind is still really busy rhyming,
But, when I'm trying to sleep, isn't great timing.

To try and get some sleep, I really endeavour,
But the night seems to go on forever and ever.

I am really willing my mind to take a rest,
But, night time is when my mind thinks best.
Over my sleeping patterns, I have no control:
On me, tomorrow, lack of sleep will take its toll.

As I snuggle myself down, under the covers,
My body wants one thing; my mind, another.
When lying in bed, I just want some peace:
I want all of this rhyming, for once, to cease.

Now most of you are aware this week is very important Do you know why? Yes it's anti-bullying week.

Now my school always make a great fuss but really never knew why. Does that sound like you, then read on!

Anti-Bullying Week is an annual UK event in the third week in November which aims to raise awareness of bullying of children and young people, in schools and elsewhere, and to highlight ways of preventing and responding to it. If you want to get involved than on Friday 20th November

With such an important week, there has to be a poem. So here is the poem, I made awhile back like when I was year 8.

Should've, Could've, would've

I should've could've, would've;
Done something about that day,
If only I had known it ended this way.
I am not proud to tell you
How I stood there and watched;
He was big and scary
Was all I thought.

I couldn't, wouldn't, shouldn't,
get involved at all.
I say to myself;
It's none of my business;
As I turn and walk down the hall.

I hear on the news;
'bout this kid who had died
It tells of his woe;
The day of his suicide

They talk about how he locked himself
inside of his room
All to have shot himself to forget all the pain.

Now as I walk through my school
I hear the laughter
But see the fear
In their eyes plainly after
And I know what their thought could easily be
They think to themselves "what if it was me"

I could've done something,
I could've told someone,
I would've, if I hadn't been so afraid.

Now I stand here promising
If I ever see,
This scary and sad sight again
I will change my should've, could've, would've
Into have, done, and did.

So throughout the day you see people getting bullied. Even I have been bullied. But nobody really does anything to stop it, just look at the news of how many people have committed suicide because of being bullied. I do not want any more dying because people cannot stop from being mean. My English teacher's favorite saying is "mean people suck" and that is true. So the next time you see somebody being bullied step in. Don't stay silent.

Armistice Day

Poppy, poppy what do you say?
Wear me on Remember Day.

Poppy, poppy what do you tell?
Many soldiers in battle fell.

Poppy, poppy what should we know?
That peace on earth should
Grow, grow, grow!

Today is the Armistice day,  I hear y'all ask what is Armistice day, it's just mean Remembrance day!

What is Rememebrance day then?

It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918. A two minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars. There is also Remembrance Sunday every year, which falls on the second Sunday in November. The anniversary is used to remember all the people who have died in wars, not just World War One. This includes World War Two, the Falklands War, the Gulf War, and conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Why do we hold the two mintues silence then?

The first two minute silence in Britain was held on 11 November 1919, when King George V asked the public to observe a silence at 11am. This was one year after the end of World War I.
He made the request so "the thoughts of everyone may be concentrated on reverent remembrance of the glorious dead".

Fireworks!

Fireworks and life-
boy aren't they similar?
People spend a  ton of money on fireworks,
the week of the 4th.
But if you really think about it,
life is the same way.
In life,
we spend money to make ourselves excited to live,
we eat a ton of food-
because hello, we ARE English for Christ's sake.
But at the end of the night,
the fireworks blow up and die
until you set up the others.
And that's just like life...
That's where it is most similar
because you pump yourself full of food,
and medication, and water...
but in the end, you're just gonna die.
But
as we live our lives,
we are as beautiful and loud
as the fireworks above.
Because our lives are the most beautiful
thing to ever walk this very Earth.
Fireworks and life-
both beautiful AND destructive.

It's the time of the year where you try to get some sleep then just as soon as you put your head down on the pillow the fireworks go off. Well just me then.

It's the time of the year where you go to watch fireworks or even a host an evening when you set fireworks off at your house.

Last Saturday my friend and I went to see fireworks and we managed to help out. This poem was an inspiration from watching fireworks and life.

Here are some photos that I captured while watching fireworks all by using a phone.

What a sunset?

This will make your Friday! If not then it should do! Ready for my puns?  With the start of November and Bonfire week well more the end now, we are agree this is whizzing by!  Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?!* (you know the song fireworks?!)

Boring old homework.

Homework stew

I cooked my maths book in a broth
and stirred it to a steaming froth.
I threw in papers—pencils, too
to make a pot of homework stew.

I turned the flame up nice and hot
and tossed my binder in the pot.
I sprinkled in my book report
with colored markers by the quart.

Despite its putrid, noxious gas,
I proudly took my stew to class.
And though the smell was so grotesque,
I set it on my teacher's desk.

My teacher said, 'You're quite a chef.
But still you're going to get an F.
I didn't ask for ‘homework stew,'
I said, ‘Tomorrow, homework's due.''

As you probably can  tell I love to cook. Speaking of that. keep refreshing your browsers for my recipes. They soon shall make away to your plates and into your tummy.

I got so much assignments from college and just fancied writing a poem about that today with a bit of humour from cooking.

If you do your homework last minute.  Then this poem is just for you!!

Do Your Homework Now

I've told you once, Mom's told you twice
forgetting homework just isn't nice.
Homework is like getting dressed
got to do it to be your best.
You say it isn't fair,
but people do it everywhere.
Do it now, get it done.
I know, I know it isn't fun.
Homework is like cleaning your room,
except you don't have to use a broom.
Do it now, we'll give you a treat,
something tasty good to eat.
We're like parrots repeating stuff,
like our brains have turned to fluff.
JUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK NOW!

With that said. I better go and do my assignments.

Jump onto your hoverboard!!

Great Scott! Today is the day Michael J Fox's Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd's Doc Brown travelled to in Back to the Future 2 in 1989 - jump on your hoverboard.

What happens if you haven't seen it?

Well tune into ITV2 tonight at 6.50pm because they’re playing the film as part of a Back To The Future marathon with part one at 4.30pm, part three at 10.30pm with a Keith Lemon tribute show at 9pm. (Sorry it's a bit late notice.)

You can also enjoy some of the sounds of the ’80s with this Spotify playlist with some of the most iconic songs of that decade including a-ha’s Take On Me, Starship’s We Built This City, and Gloria Estefan’s Conga.

OK, but why are people making a day out of it?

Like George Orwell’s 1984 and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, the world loves the idea of seeing whether the predictions made in these vintage books and movies ever came true!
Also it’s a pop culture classic and should be celebrated anyway.

So what predictions did they get right?

Well we have hover-boards, the Cubs are on track to win the World Series, and there’s a whole load of gadgets we have now that the film predicted

So your poem this Wednesday was an inspiration from back to future. Unfortunately I won't be watching the films today as I got an assignment. But on Friday I will, as I got a day off.

1955

The future of the past is always dim.
The past we recollect is always bright.
The present may be flawed but still we cling
To it. As though we’re fighting for our life.
The 1955 in which we find
Ourselves is picture perfect and we must
Do everything we can to re-align
The faces that we think created us.
The resurrection of a perfect past.
The preservation of a perfect real.
The destination of a swerving car,
With teenage freedom reeling at the wheel.
As Marty speeds away from now to then
We hope he finds a way to live, again.

To all those under pressure with work, school, essays, revision, assignments (like me)... This one is dedicated to you: hope you enjoy, ( please note, if after reading this you don't smile or feel uplifted, go and either read a book, or eat some chocolate)

Homework
How can one little word
Mean so much
To us
To our life
Try our best to keep it up
Do it as best as we can
We need a break too
We cannot work all day
Otherwise it doesn't go in
Parents
Telling us the final years of school
Just starting primary
Or studying for university
All parents say "Revise "
Is there an end?
Do you feel trapped, swimming in never ending tests?
Assessments?
I know you are bright
You have a bright future ahead of you
Don't let homework rule your life
After all
You're only young once
